Following their explosive debut in February, all eyes were fixed on the British powerhouse Team Elektros heading into the March Monthly Finals for North America. Everyone wanted to see if the reigning champions could keep that flawless momentum going.
While they did not take home the gold this time around, Team Elektros proved they are definitely not a one-hit wonder. They locked in a highly respectable 3-4th place finish, keeping themselves right in the thick of the race for international qualification and proving they are here to stay!
Crushing the Competition Early
The day started off looking like business as usual for the February champs. Facing off against Enosis eSports in the Quarterfinals, Team Elektros showed the exact same clinical aggression that won them the previous month.
They took the series with a clean 3-1 victory. Map by map, their coordination looked as tight as ever, and once again, Canadian superstar Snoiy picked up the MVP award for the match, keeping the engine running perfectly.
The Semifinal War vs Tribe Gaming
The Semifinal set up a massive, highly anticipated rematch against Tribe Gaming. Elektros knocked Tribe out in the February Semifinals, so this was the ultimate grudge match.
What followed was arguably the most intense and breathtaking series of the entire broadcast. It went the absolute distance, stretching to a full five sets.
Team Elektros actually started like a house on fire, taking a dominant 2-0 lead in sets after winning on Hot Potato and Hideout. They were just one set away from punching their ticket to back-to-back Grand Finals. Tribe Gaming mounted a furious reverse sweep to take the series 3-2, but Elektros pushed the veterans to their absolute limit.
Sitting Pretty on the Leaderboard
Though falling just short of the Grand Finals is always a sting, Team Elektros still has plenty to be proud of. They secured another $3,500 in prize money. More importantly, they bagged 20 extra BSC points, bringing their season total to a whopping 80 points.
This keeps them sitting incredibly comfortably near the top of the North American leaderboard. They have shown the entire community that they can hang with the best and fight through adversity.
